St. Marys Police responded to a call on December 9th in reference to a stabbing at a Mary Powell Drive apartment address.

When the police arrived, the alleged victim was in apartment D 29, but reports suggest the stabbing occurred in apartment P 121, according to the police report.

The police spoke to the victim, Elvis Lanier, who was sitting on his porch with a blood-stained shirt and noticeable injuries to his left shoulder and right hip. Lanier also had duct tape around his neck and stated he was stabbed in his apartment, P 121, by individuals wearing masks.

Lanier also stated his one-year-old child was still in apartment P121 where police safely recovered the child. Lainer claimed he did not know who stabbed him but said they were obviously trying to kill him and said was tied up by people wearing masks where they stabbed him twice and held a gun to his child’s head.

Lanier was rushed to Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, FL by ambulance.

Before Lanier was taken to the hospital, law enforcement was not allowed in his apartment until his girlfriend arrived.

The officer on the scene spoke to multiple residents near the apartment where the incident took place. Several residents said the say Lanier arrived their apartment, with no clothing on, stating someone needed to call the police and that he had been stabbed.

The residents stated they did not know anyone that could have stabbed Mr. Lanier, but one resident said that multiple men were seen coming out of the apartment and looked like they were from Woodbine. One of the residents called them “Woodbine boys.”

Upon inspection of Lanier’s apartment, police stated items were stolen such as a PlayStation 4, numerous video games, and a TV. In addition, police identified remnants of a green leafy substance in the residence (cabinets and kitchen area) that had the odor of marijuana, all were taken as evidence.

The investigation revealed the young child was not stabbed and a criminal investigation is still ongoing.
