This week’s Southeast Georgia Power Poll looks different than it did last week as we move into the final week of the 2018 regular season.

The Wayne County Yellow Jackets continue to hold onto the top spot and Pierce kept the No. 2 slot with its overtime win over Appling.

But, Ware County and Camden flipped spots while Glynn Academy moved up a couple of notches with its third straight region win.

Also, Frederica Academy dropped a couple of spots after falling to John Milledge at home in Georgia Independent School Association action.

Now, the power poll looks like this:

  1. Wayne County (9-0, 3-0 Region 2-5A, ranked No. 8)

Last week: Off

This week: Home vs. Ware County

The skinny: The Yellow Jackets were off last week to rest up for this Friday’s huge game against Ware County. The Jackets and Gators will tangle at Jaycee Stadium in Jesup with the winner claiming the region title and the top seed for the state playoffs.

  1. Pierce County (9-0, 4-0 Region 2-3A)

Last week: Won 27-26 at Appling County.

This week: Home vs. Liberty County

The skinny: The Bears won an overtime thriller Friday in Baxley by blocking an extra-point kick. Pierce will try to finish out an unbeaten regular season this week with a home win against Liberty that also will decide the region championship.

  1. Ware County(7-2, 3-0 Region 2-5A, ranked No. 7)

Last week: Won 21-7 vs. New Hampstead

This week: at Wayne County

The skinny: The Gators defeated New Hampstead to set the stage for Friday’s game against Wayne County in Jesup. Both teams are unbeaten in region play and the winner will claim this year’s region title.

  1. Camden County (6-3, 0-2 Region 1-7A)

Last week: Lost 28-27 at Lowndes

This week: Home vs. Tift County 

The skinny: The Wildcats fell to Lowndes after failing on a potential game-winning two-point try late in regulation after storming back from a 28-7 deficit. Camden will try to help its playoff chances with a win this week at home against Tift in the season finale.

  1. Glynn Academy (6-3, 3-0 Region 2-6A)

Last week: Won 24-17 over Effingham

This week: at Bradwell Institute

The skinny: The Red Terrors won their third straight game in the region schedule last week over the Rebels. On Friday, they go to Bradwell with a chance to win another outright region crown with a victory.

  1. Charlton County (6-3, 4-2 Region 2-A, ranked No. 6)

Last week: Lost 40-14 vs. Cinch County

This week: at Lanier County

The skinny: The Indians fell to powerful Clinch Friday in Folkston. The Tribe goes to Lanier to close the regular season this week.

  1. Richmond Hill (4-4, 2-1 Region 2-6A)

Last week: Off

This week: Home vs. Effingham

The skinny: The Wildcats were off last week and will face Effingham in a key region game this Friday to finish out the regular season.

  1. Frederica Academy (6-3, 2-0 GISA Region 2-3A, ranked No. 6)

Last week: Lost 14-13 (OT) vs. John Milledge

This week: at Bulloch Academy

The skinny: The Knights lost tough to unbeaten John Milledge at home in overtime when they misfired on a two-point try to win the game. Frederica goes to Bulloch Academy Friday night to play the Gators for the region crown.

  1. Appling County(5-4, 3-1 Region 2-3A)

Last week: Lost 27-26 (OT) vs. Pierce County

This week: at Tattnall County

The skinny: The Pirates lost at home to Pierce Friday night after coming back to force overtime. This Friday, they finish out the regular season at Tattnall.

  1. Liberty County (6-2, 3-1 Region 2-3A)

Last week: won 28-7 vs. Brantley County

This week: at Pierce County

The skinny: The Panthers knocked off Brantley at home last week. They will now gear up for a showdown with Pierce County as they have a chance to claim the region crown with a victory.
